Bathing Fluffy

Cats are very clean, which is one of the many things we love about them. Although you should brush Fluffy, you don’t have to bathe her. Of course, if you’re both brave and willing, you can give your kitty a bath. In fact, it really isn’t a bad idea to get Fluffy used to the idea. That way, if she ever gets something spilled on her fur, you at least have a chance of cleaning her up without getting sliced into ribbons. First things first. Before bathing your kitty, make sure your vet doesn’t object.

Before bringing Fluffy into the kitchen or bathroom, have everything you need ready. We also recommend putting a rubber mat in the sink or tub, so it doesn’t get scratched.

We may joke about getting scratched, but trust us, those little claws are sharp! Wear long sleeves and thick jeans. Safety goggles aren’t a bad idea either.

Only use products made specifically for cats. Shampoos made for humans are too harsh for pets. They may strip the oil from Fluffy’s fur, leaving it looking dry and even a bit frizzy.

Fluffy’s bathwater should be lukewarm. Never bathe your cat in hot water. You could scald her skin!

Avoid getting suds in Fluffy’s eyes, ears, nose, or mouth. It’s generally best to just gently clean Fluffy’s her face with a washcloth.

Rinse thoroughly! If you don’t have a sprayer, you may want to get one. This makes rinsing much easier. You can also use a pitcher or teapot.

Once you’ve rinsed your kitty off, wrap her in a towel and gently pat her dry. Fluffy may enjoy being blow dried. Just use a low, warm setting. Don’t force her to submit, however. When you let your furry pal go, she’ll immediately start grooming herself to get her coat properly ‘styled’ again. Give your feline pal a special treat or some catnip when she’s done.
