New Year’s Resolutions For Frisky Puppies

Happy New Year! Has a puppy recently joined your household? If so, 2020 is going to be a very important year for your new canine buddy. In this article from All About Animals Veterinary Services, serving the Villa Rica area, a local vet lists some resolutions for playful puppies.

Make New Friends

Socialization is absolutely crucial for dogs. In order for little Fido to form a positive outlook about the world, he’ll need to meet lots of friendly people and dogs while he’s little. Host a puppy party, take your pet to a park, and/or meet some friends with dogs for puppy playdates. Doggy daycare can also be beneficial here.

Work On My Play Bow

That happy play bow dogs do when they’re feeling playful is super cute! Your furry buddy will want to get this important doggy move down pat in 2020.

Make Friends With The Cat

We mentioned above how important it is for puppies to make friends. Our feline pals aren’t always on board with this, however. If you have a kitty, your furball may still be giving her new roommate the side-eye. Little Fido may want to befriend Fluffy this year . . . or at least figure her out.

Learn How To Be A Good Boy

Little Fido has a lot to learn in that crucial first year. In addition to house training and crate training, your furry pal will need to learn basic doggy obedience commands, like Sit, Stay, and Come.

Charm My Doctor

Your canine companion will need to come in a few times during that critical first year. In addition to his initial exams and vaccines, little Fido will need microchipping and spay/neuter surgery. We love meeting new patients!

Taste Everything

Dogs are very curious. Unfortunately, they sometimes try to learn about things by, well, eating them. You’ll need to do some puppyproofing to protect your curious pet and your belongings. Remove or secure potentially dangerous items, such as plastic bags and ties, chemicals, medication, toxic plants, and anything small or sharp.

Score Lots of Treats and Belly Rubs

We probably don’t have to explain this one much. Dogs start these lifelong quests early!
